This subject doesn’t like to sit still… Los Angeles is a city always moving and ever changing, where tangible spaces can be just as fleeting as a moment with a loved one. In this layered environment, history is often demolished and quickly forgotten. I have deep roots in this metropolis, which creates a palpable tension in a place defined by its impermanence. This ever-shifting landscape has produced an urgency in me to portray these views before they disappear.

Los Angeles is often characterized by its stereotypes, and yet I would argue that it is an actual place where real people experience love, tragedy, trauma and hope. This body of work stems from my personal photoessays, taken around the city. Painting or printing what I photograph is a way to translate these images into a different language, much like a recollection or memory provides imagery of what may have been.
